Cooling Stress, Part 1

Are you quarreling with a co-worker? If so, stop emphasizing your differences. Instead, build common ground.

Try this:

  • Use "we" language. Say, "We both want what’s best," or "We might need to cool down and rethink this."
  • Avoid "you" language. Saying, "You did this," or "You failed to do that," sounds accusatory.
